Kimono dress

Kimono dress is the combination of traditional Japanese clothing and western fashion and is not really a dress in the western style today. This is the style inspired by traditional Japanese clothing such as kimono and yukata.

Seemingly, kimono dress looks like a style of shortened kimonos worn by kids in old Japan, but was rediscovered by the western people as a comfortable exotic casual style mainly for the warm seasons. Today, as the Japanese fashion has been warmly embraced in the world, kimono dress is very popular to fashionable young women and is sophisticated by the people who love the Japanese inspired looks.

Outfit

kimono dress are often made from traditional Japanese kimonos.

Regular kimonos are T-shaped, straight-lined robes that fall to the ankle, with collars and full-length sleeves. Typical Japanese kimono dress is sort of like a hand-made kimono with shortened skirt and sleeves and and a skirt or the bottom half of the garment is altered to mimic the western fashion style.

Japanese style - Waloli

Today, kimonos are usually worn only on special occasions, and mostly by women.

A few older women and even fewer men still wear kimonos on a daily basic. On the oyher hand, many young girls enjoy kimono dress fashion called “Waloli“. Waloli(=Japanese Lolita) is the combination of traditional Japanese clothing and Lolita fashion and usually consists of yukata (sometimes kimono). The name originates from the reference to Japan as “The Land of Wa” (harmony).
